“AN ASTONISHING HIT RATE…STILETTO SHARP…EVERYTHING IS EXECUTED WITH VERVE…NOT SICK, DARK OR FASHIONABLY TWISTED, JUST VERY, VERY FUNNY…LAUGH? I EVEN PUT MY PEN DOWN TO APPLAUD” Evening Standard
Idiots of Ants make a welcome return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year with their third brand new full-length show. In the few short years that they have been working together Ben, James, Andrew and Elliott have been at the forefront of the new wave of contemporary sketch comedy shows.
“The slickest and most consistently funny sketch group around” Time Out
Prepare to witness the most bizarre revelation of World War 2, the origins of Tom and Jerry’s epic battle and the launch of the new Idiots of Ants computer game ‘Urban Sword Fighter 3’.
There are also some jokes that your Dad might like, a hen night prank gone horribly horribly wrong and find out which member of the Idiots is acting like a big baby.
This is also the only show at The Fringe where, not only do you get an hour of ground-breaking new comedy, but also, if you play your cards right – dinner, a romantic walk home and, who knows…
you might even be invited in for coffee…
“THE IDIOTS OF ANTS SKETCH SHOW WILL MAKE ANYONE’S DAY SEEM CHEERIER” Scotland on Sunday
Idiots of Ants are Andrew Spiers, James Wrighton, Elliott Tiney and Benjamin Wilson. Since forming in 2007 they have gone on to completely sell-out two Edinburgh Festival runs and perform at comedy clubs and festivals across the UK.
As well as the audiences for their live and TV work, their sketches have attracted a staggeringly large Internet following with BBC Online calling them ‘Internet sensations’.
Highlights of the last 12 months have been shooting their own television show for E4 as part of the Funny Cut season, appearances on BBC 1’s Comic Relief, Radio 4’s Loose Ends & BBC3’s The Wall. Their ‘Facebook in real life’ and ‘Wii Breakfast’ sketches are two of the most viewed comedy sketches of all time on YouTube.
Idiots of Ants sketches have been shown around the world on TV shows including The Today Show in the US and ChannelPlus in France. CNN recently even went as far as to suggest that President Obama could learn about social networking from their ‘Facebook in real life’ sketch and The Independent newspaper declared them to be one of the top five sketch groups in the UK.
They return to Edinburgh in 2009 hot off the heels of a successful debut UK tour and an appearance at The Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival where they performed in the HBO British Gala alongside Jimmy Carr, Ross Noble and John Cleese.
